I just used this twice and it works great but I can't speak to reliability. It's easy to use, inexpensive and pretty accurate. I compared the results to an instant-read meat thermometer and it was only a couple degrees different. So, which one is correct? Probably neither one but it still meets my need.

No need to open oven door to check bake items.
Very pleased to have purchased this thermometer. It allows me to monitor the temperature inside the bread I am baking. 1. I was able to use it for the first time without reading the instruction. It is a two piece item. One with wired probe to push inside the dough. The other with LED screen that display the temperature and other information. 2. It is accurate. It displayed 211 (should be 212 exactly) if putting the probe in to boiling water. 3. The transmission distance is adequate. I can monitor the food temperature in any room on the same floor with the kitchen. 4. The old style cellphone like piece is easy to read and understand. You just need to press the “Mode" button. It has timer mode with remind you at set time period; it has cooking monitor mode that set off alarm when probe temperature reaches the temperature you set. There is one feature I wish it had. I hope the designer will add a beep to the gadget when it is being turned on or off. It is difficult to know if the phone charger-like piece is turned on or off. The only way to know for sure is to watch if there is a intermittent blink every 10 seconds.
