Oh. I do love these jars. I am making shredded crockpot taco meat to can. My boyfriend was a big beef eater and I am not.He passed away, unfortunately. I mostly eat chicken, but no sense letting this roast and big hunk of taco meat go to waste. These jars are great. I can have tacos from a little 16 oz wide mouth jar. I fully cook my meats before canning them. I can share with neighbors, too. I usually wait a month before I share to taste test beforehand so I can guarantee it is safe to eat.

Does not work with Tattler reusable lids.

These jars are an excellent quality exceeding your standard Ball jars. I used a caliper and the mainstay jars are actually thicker glass than your standard canning jar. The provided rings and lids work fantastically. Where I ran into a problem is I don't use disposable lids anymore. I have switched to reusable Tattler brand lids. At first, they appeared to be closed, but I started having a lot of siphoning and failures which I never have. Then in a normal water bath can session one of the jars actually popped open and that has never happened to me using tin or reusable lids. I finally figured out that the Walmart jars screw threads are not as long as the Ball jars. I have still had some success with some of the Walmart jars and the reusable lids, but it's a PITA to get the lid set right. So for now these jars will be strictly used for my give away jars since I use tin lids for those.

The lids are not great. They look fine, but when I pressure can with them at least one in each dozen will not seal, unlike Ball lids that almost always seal. Out of five dozen Ball lids, for example, one might not seal. I've read others say they do better with water bath canning, but I don't do that often so can't address that. If you just need jars, they are fine.
