Replacement Battery for obsolete brand products

The replacement for Sony NP-F330 battery fit well and smoothly into the compartment of my Sony Handycam and started the camcorder at first but a few seconds later was rejected by indicating the error message [FOR "InfoLITHIUM" BATTERY ONLY] on the video screen and the cam then switched off immediately. The result was the same after several attempts. Rather frustrated, presumably not compatible ? Can this be resolved? However, having experienced this, the situation did not occur for two other different model types of Wasabi power battery replacement which I bought at the same time for another two Sony camcorders. The layout of the replacement for NP-F330 was different from the original brand battery, whereas the other two types that worked was the same. Did this have anything to do with the rejection?
