Chevrolet’s 1966 Malibu
The Chevrolet Malibu is a mid-size automobile produced and marketed by Chevrolet from 1964 to 1983, and again since 1997. The Malibu was first sold as a trim level of the Chevrolet Chevelle beginning in 1978 before becoming its own model line in 1978. The Chevrolet Malibu's history began in May 1966, when General Motors Corporation launched the car as a rear-wheel drive intermediate. In February 1997, GM rebranded the vehicle as a front-wheel drive sedan. It was originally known as a retreaded rear-wheel drive automobile before being reborn as a front-wheel drive model. Despite this change in platform, the car still managed to find buyers as it entered its second generation. The Malibu was named after the seaside town of Malibu, California and marketed primarily in North America, with the eighth-generation model launched worldwide.

The History of Chevrolet
Chevrolet origins date back to a small experimental shop in Detroit that began as an experiment in 1912 and gradually grew throughout the years until World War II. Many manufacturing plants and assembly lines were converted to military or postwar production to meet demand.

In 1909, William C. Durant, the founder of Buick Motors Corporation, hired Louis Chevrolet to design a car that people might purchase. The Michigan-based Chevrolet Motor Company was founded in 1911 and began producing automobiles in 1912. The name was changed to simply "Chevrolet" in 1912. The automobile's popularity increased, and it went through numerous improvements due to this. It culminated in General Motors incorporating it into the company in 1918. Chevrolet was the world's top auto brand for much of the 1930s. Chevrolet sold more than a million automobiles every year from 1927 until 1931.
