Every dog heating pad that I have bought in the past has had a timer which turned it on and off. This one does not have a timer. You have to walk outside and manually turn it off and turn it on every day to keep it from using electricity unnecessary 24/7.

The pad is made of durable material with a long cord and comes as described. The low heat setting is slightly warm to the touch and there is not much difference in the high heat setting. This will be returned it will not be sufficient for temps in the teens. I will be ordering the programmable one. It works much better!
