First experience with a detector

I bought this unit as my first metal detector and am happy with it as it has more capabilities than I have experience or skill. My reasoning was to get one that I could, with a lot of practice, grow into. I am still trying to master its settings and learn how to interpret its feedback as I practice. Would recommend to a friend looking for a first detector.

Good beginner model

The ACE 150 is a good begginners metal detector. It's simple to use, turn it on and go. It only has three modes, lacks a VDI, and doe not pin point, but that is what makes it simple enough for a young beginner. It will find metal at as deep as 6 inches. If you don't want to find everything you can set it to Jewelry or Coin Modes and this will descriminate much of the junk you don't want. After you learn how it works and what each tone means your set. I bought this machine as a backup to a much more expensive machine.
