Nesco Gardenmaster FD-1018P Food Dehydrator

This Nesco 1,000 Watt Gardenmaster Kit is great. I wasn't sure exactly what would come with it from the description, but the picture looked like another "kit" that was on this site around Christmas with this price that told what it came with. With this kit I received 8 trays, 8 screens, & 8 fruit roll trays, the instruction manual/recipe book, & a couple small packets of jerky seasoning. I did a lot of research before buying a dehydrator. I chose this one because it was 1000 watts so it would dry quicker. It has an adjustable thermostat which is necessary for the difference in meats, veggie, and fruits. I also chose this because it was more economical in the long run to buy the kit vs. buying add on trays, screens, & fruit roll up trays. I had to save up to have enough to buy the more expensive kit, but I am so glad that I did. The first time I did apples, I used all 8 trays for the 8 huge Fuji apples that I bought. It dries very evenly across each tray and all trays at the same time. No need to rotate trays. It is rather large (15-1/2" in diameter and with all eight trays probably 20" high or more.) so make sure you have room for it. I bought a cheap 4 foot plastic folding table and put it in my sun porch where I could leave it set up and I have room to set the trays aside if I need to check on a lower tray. The instructions are easy to follow and the recipe guide is not bad. A quick search of the internet for how to dehydate foods will yeild more recipes than you could possibly ever try. It has run almost non-stop since I got it out of the box. My first run was a pumpkin pie fruit roll up. I just used the filling that I normally put in my pumpkin pie, without eggs in it, and poured it on the fruit roll liner tray. It was amazing. I've done the pureed fruit into roll ups or fruit leather as it's called, and I've dried fruits and made jerky. I can't keep the fruits and jerky done up fast enough for my family, but that's a good thing. They will "sneak" the dried fruits conveniently placed on the counter in ziploc bags in easy reach, over cookies in jars out of reach that you have to ask permission to have. My best tip is Don't forget to OIL the trays or screens if that is suggested in your recipe. I did, one time. I spent about 15 minutes picking fruit off one screen that had stuck to it. I haven't forgotten since. I've done fresh, canned, and frozen fruits all with equal sucess. I have not tried the jerky seasoning that came with the kit, as I have my own recipe for that. When I do, I'll update this review. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. Can ya tell?
