My First Heart Rate Monitor

Simple to use and set up. I've only been using it a few times, so I don't feel like an expert yet. It was pretty easy to setup, and didn't feel awkward to wear while I worked out. The connection between the monitor (on a strap around your chest) and the display (the watch) was very dependable. The watch display is large so it is easy to read even as you bounce around during a work out. The one con I have is that it says you can tap on the glass of the watch to change modes, and this seemed kind of hit and miss, not always changing modes. There's a mode button on the side, so it wasn't really a big deal. Oh, and be careful wearing it under a white or light-colored t-shirt. The black strap showed through and someone asked if I was wearing a bra. Maybe it would make sense to have a light-colored strap (although this may show wear sooner).

Easy to use and comfortable

I've owned one other heart rate monitor in the past. Which for the price was okay but that was 8 years ago. Recently tried the Omron HR-310 Heart Rate Monitor. I was really impressed at how easy it was to set up and use. I remember my old monitor not being very user friendly. In addition, I found the chest strap very comfortable and easy to adjust. I remember my old was not the case. I was also excited to know that you can use the strap without the watch on most gym machines. I haven't had to use this yet but it's good to know for the future. I love the calorie counting feature – This is very helpful as I am never too sure how many calories I burn when I workout. I am big cross trainer so I've been using it for running, biking and spin. Knowing where my heart rate is has enable me to really push myself even harder during my workouts. Hoping this will make me a better athlete all around.

Great value for the price!

I have never owned heart rate monitor before and didn't know what to expect when I got one. I was happily surprised that there are so many functions with the monitor. You can set up your user data to get the accurate readings and all of this is explained in the Instruction Manual very clearly to help calculate your lower and maximum limits. It also has a clock, alarm clock, stopwatch, keypad tone, user data and 6 different modes to see some preset modes; time, instant heart rate percentage, stopwatch with current heart rate, average heart rate, calories burned and just stopwatch by itself. Only cons I would have that I wasn't very impressed with the Tap on Lens feature. It doesn't always work the way it was desired. I actually have to tap on the lens with the nail and even then I don't get to the preset mode. If this model would have had pedometer built to it, I would have given it 5 stars. But overall, great product for the price!
