Maeve Everbrill has a history with summer camps.

When she was young, she was sent to Camp Swallowtail, where she spent a disastorous summer that taught her she needed to hide from the truth in order to make friends. She lives this way, swearing off all things camp-related. Things are going well until the summer before her senior year, when her parents uproot her life and move to the summer camp they recently decided to purchase-Camp Swallowtail.
