the ladder is very easy to open and close. it feels sturdy and the hooks at the top are good for holding the ladder in place. it folds up really small. i got it for access to a tiny house loft that i didnt want my toddler to be able to climb and its perfect for that. when its all closed, she cant do anything dangerous with it.
