Though I enjoy the first two seasons, Series Three is where, in my view, the series takes off. Ultimately, this drama is about the rise and fall of James Bellamy and his generation. The introduction of Meg Wynn Owen, as Hazel Forrest Bellamy, in an absolutely tour de force performance, was ingenious. Viewers could certainly relate to her and her middle class values. Series Three has a bit of everything ~ the sinking of the Titanic, James's wooing of his father's secretary and their subsequent and misguided marriage, Richard Bellamy at the center of a scandal, Romance for Mrs. Bridges and Rose and Hudson's temptation to leave Eaton Place for grander and greener pastures. I do believe that ANYONE who is interested in acting, writing or directing for television or film, `Distant Thunder` is a MUST - it is a TRIUMPH in every way. Something for everyone in Series Three and, as ever, it is acted to the nines.
