Using the sonde feature, it saves a lot of time diagnosing problems with buried pipe. Saves time and aggravation with broken utility lines. Able to locate private lines and unmarked utility lines on job site.

I have not used one in years, but was recently asked for a recommendation and showed them this unit. My outfit had three different locators, but this was, hands down, my favorite. Once a mild learning curve is overcome, the capabilities, and accuracy, are impressive. My one small complaint is the latching clip used to hold it in the folded position, as I work in a near-arctic environment (central Alaska) and the plastic used is brittle at the sub-zero temperatures we can reach here.
