I hope you're handy with a drill. Lots of holes that you would think would be pre-drilled were not. One of the hinges were bent in shipping, but I was able to straighten it out somewhat. The dowels were problematic in that a couple of them pushed through the material beneath them. Was missing 2 of the 6 screws that held the drawer front on. I just grabbed a couple that were similar to replace them. To open it is not difficult but it does require a certain amount of strength. There are no handles on part that folds into the inner section [the part that looks like crib rails]. The drawer has to move almost completely out of the way or you're either stepping over it or tripping over it. You put the drawer back into place once the bed is open. Make sure you pull the drawer frame/lower section out first, before unlocking it to open! That is the part that holds the weight of the front of the cabinet/middle of the mattress. You might break your bed if you neglect to do so. [I nearly did]. Something to consider: any person of average-petite height and up, would most likely find it problematic and uncomfortable to sit up against their pillows since the top doesn't open completely. The clearance from mattress to top is about 24 inches and the top sticks out over the mattress about 10 inches. Fortunately, none of the little issues interfere with outward appearance or safety. My husband did assist with lining up the drawer bottom into the groove, but I did the rest alone [52F]. It took me most of the day, at a relaxed pace. I would not recommend this cabinet bed to someone NEW to DIY furniture assembly. Overall, yes, if you're willing and able to roll with hiccups. We did specifically purchase from WM because the return details stated it was returnable to the store.
