I found these pillow covers to be exactly as they were stated the zippers were great. I like the way they work and you don't have that little tab sticking out but very easy to handle. The material is great at soft, but it's waterproof and I like that easy to put on it slips right on and I'm very happy with this product. I would recommend it to anyone.

I don't know how well it will protect…

But I didn't buy them for protection, so it'll be fine. The material is very breathable and soft enough. I bought these to fill with some extra shredded memory foam I had and they work great for that. The zipper does not have a pull, but that doesn't bother me so much as the stitch meant to keep the zipper from opening too much busting while I filled the case. I'm not really sure how that would hold up to an actual pillow being inserted if a handful was too much. Still, I like them and would recommend them.
