Heavy Duty 4 Tier White Plastic Shelving

I ordered two sets of these white plastic, heavy-duty shelves. They are suitable for toys and books with very little chance of them bowing in the shelf center. (A whole shelf of books can be pretty heavy.) You will need a sharp-edged knife, like a pocket knife, or small straight-edged paring knife to trim back miscellaneous pieces of plastic. Also, you will need a small hammer, and a couple thicknesses of cardboard to get the legs to settle fully into the bases. DO NOT hammer directly onto plastic. Put a couple of layers of cardboard in between plastic point you wish to push down, and use the side, not the head of the hammer to gently, but firmly tap into place. Please use your own common-sense, and be responsible for your own decisions. What I have written above, and below are my opinions/suggestions only; and, based on my own personal, first-hand experience with this product that I just received. In my opinion, the price is good for Heavy Duty, but this kind of heavy-duty is use in your home, not necessarily workshop heavy items over a long period of use. Additionally, of the two set, 8 shelves, 32 sockets: two sockets had one small chip each, hence 4 stars instead of 5. Though it does not make a person feel crazy knowing their purchase wasn't "perfect," the reality is, they were very small, and in no way impacted the assembly, or the integrity of the whole, because when properly assembled, each post rests deeply in each shelf socket; and, for the price, and the lack of availability of a similar heavy-duty set that's not gargantuan; and, because I need more, I have ordered two more sets. But, because of these chips, I still feel certain they are heavy-duty for in the home only where they won't necessarily get a high level of abuse, like in a workshop, for example, where they might chip, or crack, and basically break. Also, if properly set into the sockets, the posts rise above the surface of the shelf to form a turret about 1/4" above the shelf in each corner. I have already gotten used to the appears, and it is no big deal, or for the price, and that it really is a light-weight version of more heavy, and more expensive, by as much as double the price of other heavy-duty shelves. I just mention it because you can't see the top of the shelves easily in the photo provided to realize its appearance if the posts are fully in their sockets to look like little turrets on the top, and not flush with the shelf. Also each leg comes with "up" arrows pressed on two sides. When assembling, you may wish to turn these so they do not face front. Also the sides of the shelves with mounting holes are meant to face the wall, and is not the front facing side. Hope this does help. Lets face it. If your buying plastic shelving, you're hoping it will go the distance. If you are looking for a good, inexpensive, moderate weight bearing, sturdy, heavy-duty, white plastic shelf for primarily in home use...well, I am getting an additional two sets. :)

I like the fact that the shelf is easy to put together and offers lots of storage space. I expected a sturdier shelf than this though. It is marketed as heavy duty holding 400lbs. I put a 35 pound item on the top shelf. The shelf is bowing down a little more than I expected. It also is not the sturdiest but does recommend screwing it into the wall for added support. Great for the price, but it shows!

Not for me

I never got them put together. I could not get any of the legs to lock into the holes. I tried 2 shelves and 6 or 8 legs. None would go in. Instructions say "you may need to tap on them to get them in". They did not even look/feel like the shape matched so, no, not hitting them with a hammer. I have several sets of this type of shelves, not this brand, and have had no trouble getting them to snap together. Sent them back.
