Shakespeare pt. II

Having seen David Tennant and Patrick Stewart perform this live on stage at the RSC Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon I was delighted to be able to own a copy of this production. Not a filming of the stage play but a reworking into a movie it is still filled with the performances that made this the hot ticket of 2008. Bravo David Tennant on another magnificent job. Highly recommended!

Wonderful

First of all, although it says that this is Full Frame, it is in fact a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. David Tennant's Hamlet is relatable, understandable, and very real. Patrick Stewart as Claudius shows more range of emotion than I have seen in any other Claudius. Ophelia is not my favorite, but she is more than made up for by the rest of the stellar cast.

A masterpiece

BBC and the RSC team up to provide a magnificent interpretation of Shakespeare's Hamlet. While they tailored the script a bit and the 3 hours can be a bit long for the average viewer, the story remains true. The beginning is a bit slow, but once it picks you up, it doesn't let go. It is a wonderful and moving performance all around. The grandeur of a stage performance and the subtleties of film are married perfectly in the actors. If you want to see a masterpiece, this movie is it.
