About this item
Product details
Bolt on a strong axle and better suspension with our 73-87 Bolt on coil buckets for the 2005+ Ford super 60
Designed with the Squarebody: 1973-1987 (88,90,91) GM Truck and SUV in mind but can be made to work with other models with a 34" (+ or - 1")outside frame width at the belly.
What are the Super Duty D60 Bolt on coil brackets?
These are a HD bolt on frame brackets that hold the coil spring when swapping in a 2005+ Ford Dana 60 and convert your square body from leaf springs up front to coil springs. They utilize stock bolt holes and capture the horizontal and vertical faces of the frame. This results in an easy and super strong swap!
The panhard bar bracket is built into the coil bracket making locating and install a breeze!
Brackets are fully welded and powder coated 1/4" steel plate.
What should I use for coils?
Our brackets are built for '76-79 Ford F150/Bronco front coil springs, these are available from many different manufacturers in different lift heights.
(we use the F150 coils because of the wide variety of off the shelf options as well as custom ones available from many vendors for low cost. For heavy applications like Cummins swaps we recommend getting a custom set built)
Lift height is ~4" taller than the springs advertise, so stock springs net about 4" lift. Springs with 2" of lift will net more like 6" on your Chevy, etc. Custom coil springs are much cheaper and quicker to get than custom leaf springs, so keep that in mind if you need something special (extra weight, lower/taller lift height, etc.).
What makes the Super Duty D60 special?
Beef! With 3.75" axle tubes that are .5" thick they can definitely take a beating. They are high pinion and have a huge aftermarket support to take you as far as you want. Factory 35 spline inner and outer axle shafts.
The other great thing is they are readily available in junk yards for around $500-700, can't find anything like that in the old kingpin GM, Dodge, and Ford axles.
They come with radius arms that are better handling, better riding and much tighter steering compared to a leaf sprung suspension. It's a great update for your rig!
Some things to keep in mind.
The Super Duty Dana 60 is a driver drop axle, so if your transfer case is on the passenger side you will have to swap that out. In many cases (LS swap, Cummins/Duramax/Powerstroke swap, etc.) this is actually a problem solver as many newer drivetrains are setup with (or easier to adapt to) a driver side drop transfer case.
The SD D60 is a 8x170mm bolt pattern so you can either swap in the Ford rear axle or there are hubs with various bolt patterns available in the aftermarket (including the older GM 8x6.5" 8 lug pattern).
What are the benefits of swapping to a Super Duty D60?
Aside from the obvious strength you will gain in drivability over leaf springs. Leaf springs move forward/back and side to side with the shackles and bushings causing things to feel sloppy. Radius arms provide a designated path for the suspension to travel, making everything feel way more precise. Radius arms also give some stability characteristics like an anti-sway bar, part of the reason so many auto manufacturers use them on their trucks today!
The driver's side drop differential has become a popular swap using newer drivetrains that often need the differential on that
