The large dog bed features a layer of orthopedic foam at the base of the pet bed and another thick layer of egg crate style foam that helps distribute their weight evenly to limit pressure points. It"s a piece of foam rubber that is rolled up flat as a pancake, it took 5 days to resemble the picture, although the end that was rolled on the inside never regained it"s shape so one end is higher than the other
