Hibiclens is a medical grade liquid antimicrobial cleanser, proven to kill many harmful bacteria (including MRSA), viruses and fungi. Washing with Hibiclens before contact with contaminated skin and surfaces will help eliminate the risk of transfer. Add Hibiclens to your first aid kit, car kit, diaper bag, or purse for all those times you need to clean hands but can't get to a sink. Whether you're attending school or camp, competing in athletic events, or shopping for groceries, you can use Hibiclens in those situations which enable the spread of bacteria and viruses, but leave you without a convenient way to wash your hands. Instructions
Skin wound and general skin cleansing: Thoroughly rinse the area to be cleansed with water. Apply the minimum amount of Hibiclens necessary to cover the skin or wound area and wash gently. Rinse thoroughly.\nSurgical hand scrub: Wet hands and forearms with water. Scrub for 3 minutes with about 5 mL of Hibiclens with a brush. Rinse thoroughly under running water. Repeat.\nPersonnel hand wash: Wet hands with water. Dispense about 5 mL of Hibiclens into cupped hands and wash in a vigorous manner for 15 seconds. Rinse and dry thoroughly.\nPreoperative skin preparation: Apply Hibiclens liberally to surgical site and swab for at least 2 minutes. Dry with a sterile towel. Repeat. Dry with a sterile towel.\nLaundering instructions: Chlorhexidine gluconate skin cleansers will cause stains if used with chlorinated products. Rinse completely and use only non-chlorine detergents. As a surgeon, I know the fact that chlorhexidine gluconate,(Hibiclens), is the best skin preparation available. The major precaution is not to use it on mucosal surfaces such as eyes, and mouth. However, an oral rinse is available at a higher dilution for certain dental treatments.
