- Water heaters with a check valve on the domestic water line.



Problem Associated With Check Valves on D.H.W.:



A check valve, back flow preventer, or other "No Return" valve has been placed on the domestic water line. The result is a closed system. When the water heats up in the water heater there's no place for the expanded water to go. Pressure builds and the safety valve discharges.

Safety relief valves were never intended to operate regularly. Their purpose is to discharge only in the case of a system malfunction that would otherwise have resulted in catastrophe. Continual operation of a safety relief valve can result in failure of the safety relief valve.



Problem Associated With Radiant Floor



A small amount of oxygen may permeate through the wall of non barrier tubing. If an oxygen inhibitor is not used in the system it may attack inexpensive diaphragm expansion tanks. The use of the WH series open system tank will eliminate all problems.
