Philips - Series 5000 Wet & Dry Midnight Blue Electric Shaver S5585/30 w/ Pouch and Charging Station

Did some research and my findings is that the Series 5000 shaver (particularly the S5582) is Philips' mid range wet and dry electric shaver. Since I am not the type who can grow any semblance of a beard in 5 or 7 days, features of the more premium 9000 or 7000 series will be lost on me and at the price point of the 5000 series shaver, one can also save quite a bit. The shaver itself is well built. Good weight and well balanced, which is the main point, I guess. The LED indicators are sparse but intuitive. The locking feature is useful especially for travel, preventing the shaver from turning on and draining all the battery while in transit. Dry shaving with the S5582 shaver is good enough. However, the standout trait of this shaver is how well it handles wet shaving. I lathered up and the shaver was able to very comfortably glide through my skin with no drag while providing a very close shave — especially near the jawline area where it has traditionally been a more difficult area for a clean shave for me. All this while, the shaver hugs the face well and I am left with a close shave without any irritation whatsoever. Rinsing off after a wet shave is also very straightforward and easy. The items in the box are relatively sparse though: the shaver, a protective cap and a teeny tiny brush. The documentation did show other accessories such as the Quick Clean Pod and Soft Pouch. However, those accessories are only available for the more expensive S5579. So do pay attention to which product you are purchasing. I'm a little caught off guard as I was really looking forward to trying out the cleaning pod. The documentation can be confusing since it lumps 10 different products into a single wordless guide, users have to figure out which feature and/or accessory is applicable to the shaver that they are using. All in all, a good shaver that does the job well at a very reasonable price point.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been given an opportunity to test on the 5000 series Shaver, finally, I can have a comparison with a razor that I have been using ever since I need to shave. I have brought an entry electric shaver many years ago and find it can't be completely cleaned up and hard to maintain, ever since I have stopped using it. At first, I am curious that what Philips can put on the table with the latest technology, spent a weekend going through the spec and was surprised that the self-clean function can solve the issue I pace and have better performance compared with water, the first problem solved. Shaving - it is quiet and I really can't feel anything during the process, after a few minutes, I was clean, and my skin is smoother compared with a razor which really surprise me. the second issue was solved with a better result. With the 2 major concerns solved, I am confident that I will stay with Philips electric shaver from now on and would recommend it to someone who is thinking of switching from the razor. Pros - easy to clean and hygiene, it doesn't get messy after every shave. The only con is it tasks longer to shave, still, with the pros I think it deserves a place in my bathroom.
