It goes up and down with ease. I use it for my vanity, but would make a wonderful office chair as well. Highly recommend, especially if you pay under $40!

not enough to lose a star, but the zipper on the bottom of the chair doesn't have pull taps and was a little loose and un zipped. over all great, great quality looks just like the picture with a beautiful color.
