First time to make homemade clam chowder which turned out great and more cost effective. These minced clams are mild in taste and fragrance, not overpowering fishiness. I feel confident that I am receiving some Omegas in my diet. Downside for me: even though I made 1/2 recipe, these minced clam pieces were too tiny to add my desired gentle robust clam flavor and fragrance in a soup -- nothing to sink my teeth into. Most likely, these minced clams are meant to be used in canapes and dips for chips. Next time I will use two of these cans for 1/2 recipe, or try the chopped clams.

Good clam flavor - slightly sweet and not fishy. The clams are not mushy. The juice is not murky or dark and settles quickly. Cleaner than other brands we have tried. We ALWAYS pick through canned clams looking for those dark, round bits of clam poo. That's just the way it is with shellfish. Snow's brand is consistently cleaner and easier to pick through because, even though shredded, the clams are not mushy and the juice is not cloudy and settles quickly. Snow's also has a chopped clam version that is equally good. We don't even look at other brands anymore. Our pantry staple.
