fantastic book

The saddest most painful read I have ever come across. I cried, and at times thought - there's no way I can continue reading ---it's too much-- I can't handle it! We can imagine how painfully tragic an Afghan woman's life can be - no rights, no voice, forced to suffer alone and in silence...the book brings the darkness...(tharr be more) of their lives to light. We readers should all thank whatever God we believe in that we do not live their daily tragedies. Forced to suffer so greatly to get nothing in return-- and in most cases, not even life. I'm sad he's only written 2 books! I wish he had volumes- I can't wait for whatever comes next. I can't remember the last time I was so sad a book ended. It could have been 1000 pages long and I wouldn't have been able to put it down! The Kite Runner was spectacular, too, so I shouldn't have been surprised that I loved this one...even more than the last.

Captivating

I loved his first book, The Kite Runner, and just had to get his second. I must say, this was a great read--I just could not put this book down. I only hope that he comes out with a third soon!

The best book ever!

This book is even better than the Kite Runner (written by the same author). I borrowed this book from the library and loved it so much that I had to buy a copy to keep in my book collection. Absolutely love it!
