Bob Seger's 1991 THE FIRE INSIDE finds the Detroit rocker beginning his fourth decade in the music biz. While he was taking longer and longer periods of time between albums (there had been a five-year layoff between his last album, 1986's LIKE A ROCK, and this release), this hasn't here demonstrably diminished Seger's desire to play blue collar rockers and ballads.
Seger's trusty Silver Bullet Band is present, but the majority of the record finds him joined by a host of special guests such as Joe Walsh, Bruce Hornsby, Mike Campbell, Lisa Germano, and Kenny Aronoff. Like its predecessor, THE FIRE INSIDE is a much more polished affair than Seger's late-'70s releases, with highlights the mid-tempo title track and "The Mountain."
