A uniquely Spanish form of music-theatre, "zarzuela" is enduringly popular throughout Spain and the Americas. Perhaps the greatest zarzuela of all, La verbena de la Paloma is a hilarious and touching slice of life and love on a street in Madrid, during the annual fiesta of Our Lady of the Dove.

Filmed at Madrid's Festival de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and featuring an entirely Spanish cast, this riotously colourful modern staffing updates the action to contemporary Madrid, whilst preserving all the Latin charm of a much-loved musical classic.
