It works

I wish it was built in a manner that was water resistant. It works. I like that you can turn the IR light off and set it as a default so when you turn it on the IR light is not beaming away. Have not done anything with the pictures, I have only tired it to make sure it works for image capture. The battery compartment I have read at some sites as loose. When you put batteries in iGen it puts pressure and is no longer loose. Do wish the battery compartment was easier to open, close, and put batteries in and out. I would recommend this as it does seem to work and is not overly expansive compared to other night vision. Mine seems to have one pixel that comes and goes. Not sure if I am going to do anything about the pixal or not.

Never a problem and works great year round

I have had this unit for 2 years now and have used it in every possible situation from extreme heat, cold, and wetness of the Pacific NW... It has many viewing options for customizing to your personal sight, has adjustable illumination, picture taking (B/W) and a video out (RCA) to a recorder (mini-DVR) and or TV... The view is fixed magnification and the focus is manual... There is the standard 1/4-20 screw receiver for use on a tri-pod which works very well for extended use... I use lithium batteries for longer life and have bought a external military IR illuminator which really allows me to punch out to 150-200 yards with no problems... This is unlike other IR units will not be damaged by sunlight and can be used in the day with out any worries because of the proprietary science behind this unit... Only down side is no a/c power or aux. d/c augmentation which would really put this unit over the top... The form fitting carry case is second to none in protecting your unit...

I purchased the IGEN night vision IC a month ago and so far I love it. I will agree with other reviews that the batteries are the limiting issue for this unit. It would be nice if they had rechargeable with an AC plug to charge them. The biggest delight I have with the IGEN is the price from Walmart. It was $200 cheaper for the exact same unit here than it was at BPS! I use it on a 8 acre property and can see anywhere and anything on my property with ease. I've not used the image capture or video features yet, my primary need was to scan my property at night and it is as good as the military NVG's I've used (gen I and II). This is a great price for a great unit.
