Darkens and cools the room well.

The panels are made of a very nice and sturdy material. They should last a long time even with the sun shining on them everyday. They are washable but I don't think that would happen very often. Just an occasional brushing should work. The panels were put up over a door with a glass panel in my bedroom. Every morning the sun shining on my bed woke me up. In the summer it got real hot and unbearable. After putting the panels up it blocked the sun completely. The room was also a lot cooler. In the picture there was still light in the room because there is a window across the room. I am planning to purchase another pair for that window. Picture was taken in the afternoon so it does not show how bright it is in the morning. My bed is to the left of the door. I would suggest hanging the rod above the window or area so the light is complete blocked unless you don't mind a little light coming in.

Great Blackout Curtains!

Mainstays 100% Blackout Single Panel Window Curtain is the best blackout curtain I have ever had. I love blackout curtains to help keep my home cooler and also keep the sunlight out of the bedrooms when we are sleeping. Some other blackout curtains I have had in the past didn't block out 100% of the light. This Mainstays blackout curtain truly blocks out 100% of the light out. I love the size of this panel. It is 50 inches x 84 inches. I received the Blue Cove color which is a deep navy blue. The color is dark and rich and looks great. I hung 2 panels over a large picture window in my living room and I noticed a different right away. It helped cool the room down right away. I couldn't be happier. The panels were very easy to put up. They have a rod pocket with back tabs and my curtain rod easily slid through the rod pocket. The fabric is 100% polyester and is a good thickness and weight. They are great quality and seem very well made.

Complete blackout!

I got these since my boyfriend works nights and sleeps during the day. They definitely do what they say, blackout! Our bedroom gets the most sun in all the rooms we have. Not only is it bright but also extremely hot in the summer. These curtains keep out the sun and the heat! I highly recommend blackout curtains!
