I received the 9 inch carbon steel nonstick round Comal with metal handles for free in exchange for my review of the item. I have never heard of this product before so I was genuinely curious to see what it was. It's very small. The size of a 9 inch cake pan except it's flat with handles on each side. I must admit that it sat on my kitchen table for over a week while I tried to figure out how to use it. It's nonstick so that's a plus. Can be used on stove top or in oven. First thing I tried with it was mini pancakes on stove top. They turned out perfect. Cooked evenly and fluffy. My kids loved them. Next I tried baking Cresent rolls in the oven. Another success! The rolls just slid off of the comal easily into my serving basket. I didn't need to add oil to the pan. Next I made bacon wrapped jalapeños in the oven. Those were so delicious and perfectly baked that they were ate up faster than I could take a picture of them. Only con I found is that whether you are using it on the stove top or the oven, the handles do get hot. So you need to use oven mitts to pick it up. Goes great from oven to table (using a hot pad under it). I only wish it was larger in size in case I was cooking for a larger group of people. Otherwise I recommend this Comal. Very easy clean up. Versatile uses.

I used this comal for corn and flour tortillas and was impressed! The tortillas did not stick to it, they were heated up quickly with how hot the comal gets. My family is obsessed with hot sandwiches and stuffed quesadillas. The problem with a normal pan is the sides are always in the way which causes the filling to fall out when I'm flipping. Having this pan has made it so easy to make them and flip them with ease. Also making fried eggs without breaking the yolk has been so much easier with this pan. It's a thin pan so it gets hot really fast so always cook on a very low heat setting!

The only downside was the handles got hot so I had to use oven mitts to hold the pan. I would have been nice if there were covers on the handles.

I have never seen anything like it in any of my kitchens. I almost thought I should've known. I got burned by trying to heat a flour tortilla and next I tried to fry a corn tortilla. The corn actually was good but the handle burnt my fingers. So other than that okay?
