Royal Classic Retro Manual Typewriter (Purple) with Extra Ribbons

I immediately fell in love with it bc it was purple...but the relationship was completely one-sided lol I guess the first ribbon was dried out bc it wouldn't type at all...so I changed the ribbon and it barely typed. Only half what I typed printed. Also, while changing the ribbon I was looking at the inner workings of the machine and I'm sorry but it was made of very poor quality-it was just a matter of time before things started snapping or falling off lol Despite all the red flags I was determined to make it work. Today I went back to give it another chance...this time I couldn't even get the roller to advance my paper...I took it as a sign to break up with it and I immediately boxed it back up before the beauty of it's purple body could lure me back in a weak moment lol Honestly, for $250 I just need to find a vintage model that has been refurbished and call it a day as I was looking for something to actually write with analog-style. The old vintage Royals were heavy and durable for a reason-they were made of quality parts and that's why they've lasted over 100 years...the newer models while shinier and pretty just don't have what it takes like their older counterparts-the only thing they have in common is the Royal name. So if you're just looking for something flashy and pretty to sit on a shelf as decor by all means buy it-if you're looking for something of substance that *actually works*-do yourself a favor and go for the older model lol
