Very soft! The back side is firmer, but if you were looking for a squishy and comfy mattress for say 12 months or a toddler, this is a great one! It also fills all those crib corner gaps. Worth the purchase. I do not like the standard waterproof kind. If thats what you want, this is definitely not spring filled or that firm. It is very comfortable! Back firm side suitable for I would say 5-6 months or more safely. I would not place a newborn on this mattress. Its a great option if you plan to use a bassinet first or co sleep. After that its suitable age wise for a larger infant who can turn and flip.

I think these beds are pretty cool I got them for my kids bunk beds and they are perfect. I've tried different brands and they always rip so I don't if these will, I hope not. But they are comfy and they come packaged well no damages and they are in a tight wrap and eventually expand to their own size. They also have their own cover
