We started our Gracie, a Sheltie, on this food a few months ago, after reading practically every label on every bag of food we could find. She had put on way too much weight, and no matter what we fed her, she continued to gain. She got up to an unhealthy 32 lbs. (her ideal weight is 20 - 25 lbs.), and we were at our wits end. Today was her checkup at the vet, and she has lost a pound & 1/2! Believe it or not, this food has less calories and more protein, so if you have a sweetheart who has gotten too chubby for her own good, this food can help - she's not losing the weight too fast, and she'll be able to maintain what she loses without having to switch to a "normal" food. I am impressed by hte fact that everything is locally sourced and grain free. One of our dogs is an 11 year old Border Collie who is Blind, Deaf and also Diabetic. She also is showing signs of Arthritis. This food has Glucosamine and Chondroitin. We have seen a noticeable improvement in her mobility since we started feeding her this.
