These may be from a more healthy foods company, but small %26 sweet of it...This falls into the confection-candy category. I would love it if they had added calcium caseinate, but considering that saltbis listed as an ingredient then I would be as satisfied to see sodium caseinate if the salt content were lowered. Either option would move this item from simply a guilty treat into the health food category. With that said, I wasn't sure what to expect and ordered this on a whim since it isn't expensive. I'm pleasantly surprised. It tastes just like a frozen Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bar!...only in a shelf stable wafer confection form. The red bits on top are what really do it, but the flavor is distributed in between as well. I know this because in eating, one bite size that I broke off happen to separate horizontally between the sections and I tasted the bottom half individually. In doing so there were no top bits in that bite. The creamy layers are exactly where they could (and should) add casesin. It wouldn't take away from the taste or texture at all and be highly beneficial for most. Speaking of texture! The actual wafer is done notably well! Most wafers scatter crumbs when broken. Even opening their packages can scatter them everywhere. Not so with these! Yes, there will be some crumbs but it's minimal. Actually it's just a few of the top bits really that can fall off. This isn't the mess that you get with the average wafer confection! It's a little more cost, but without the mess and the delicious flavor are worth it for me. This doesn't have health benefits I'd like (yet, hint hint..), but I will buy this again

I was excited to try these. It was a toss up between the strawberry and blueberry, and strawberry won. These Nature Valley wafer bars are light and airy, with a good strawberry coating on the outside and flavor between the wafers. We will definitely be trying the blueberry next.
