First let me say this wand has a small learning curve if you haven't used a flipperless wand before. Please do use the glove as this iron gets hot if you turn it up to 430 degrees F. While wearing the glove do not leave the glove on the barrel for any extended period of time as it will melt to the barrel. The tip of the curling stays cool but you need one hand to wrap and hold your hair around the iron and the other to hold the iron. So do wear the glove. I have longer hair so the 1.25 barrel was perfect for my hair length of half way down my back. My hair is medium thickness and it curled my hair pretty well. The curl lasted about the whole day with a little limping around 6 pm. A quick/little touch up before my meeting around 7 made it perfect again. The curling iron heats up very quickly and that is something that I need to have in a curling iron. I love the tousled curl look for my hair but other styles are achievable with little to no effort. So I say the curls are longer lasting than my other curling iron and for me that makes this a winner. Note: I set it in the white dish so I could get a picture of the temperature dial as it didn't show when setting on the counter with the Safety Stand( see pic). The safety stand works perfectly. Yes I would recommend this curling iron hands down.
