Tinker is a great Swiss Army Knife (SAK)! The 2 layer design is going to have some key functions while being small and comfortable in your pocket.
I like the design and I don't need scissors or a small wood saw taking up extra space. I would like to see a combination with the hook on the backside, but Victorinox does not make one 2 layer with the hook.
The weight and tool set matched my needs. Be sure they match yours before buying - many options. The items below will help you determine if the tools they advertise are worth it.
Users buying this ought to consider the Compact SAK.
Blade comes very sharp! Good slip joint retention and aligns well (offset, angled) in the tool. No wobble and pretty happy with the quality of the most used tool. I often struggle to get these blades back to factory sharp - and I do not struggle with other blade.
Pen blade works well. Very sharp and aligns well with no wobble.
Can opener is a small flat, a can opener, and works as an inline 2D phillips driver for no. 2 phillips. Can opener is very sharp and the best design for someone to actually uses this style tool - compared to the ‘eagle claw design'. 2D phillips works fine to tighten up most things. Will not replace a real screwdriver since it's a worse fit.
Bottle opener is going to be the least used tool. It's not the best bottle opener because of how little area there is to get a purchase. I could open easier using the knife blade in the closed position. Wire stripper is not better than competitors and could use a nice sharpening to one side to make it more useful. Flat head is rounded but turns outlet cover screws and fits decently. Also a stout pry bar when used within reason.
3D T-handle driver phillips is good. Great with open areas but struggles around things like a door knob. Overall, good fit - hard to use at times
Awl is very sharp. I do use this as a reamer on soft material. I do not see much, but the slightly rearward angle ensures it stays locked in place when using it to pierce.
Pin holder works fine. You'll need to buy a pin. I use this often and pair it with the decent tweezers to remove splinters. Big benefit to me. Fits in a pocket and I don't have to stab a needle in the sheath or leather holster.
Tweezers are decent enough. Sharp flat tips work well.
Toothpick is the typical. Nothing special, but handy for the layperson meat eater.
My unit came with light scuffing on the handles, but I'm going to put far more wear than I am concerned with this initial wear. Not going to be the collectors version if you were into that.
