The sea salt in this blend is actually infused with habanero pepper -- the salt crystals have a reddish-orange tint with tiny flecks of chili on them, and they are mixed with slightly larger bits of dried chili flakes. The grinder is built into the lid, and there's a snap on/off cap that keeps the salt fresh and dust-free between uses. I often find myself reaching for chili powder to add more flavor to basic dishes like mac & cheese. But it had never occurred to me to try a chili-infused salt, so this Habanero Chilli Salt from African Dream Foods was a bit of a revelation for me! It adds a perfect dash of salt and spice to foods where straight chili powder might be a bit much, such as on buttered popcorn, corn on the cob, french fries, etc. Grinding the chili salt produces a mix of finely ground and slightly coarser bits. I actually like the varied texture of the salt; the finer bits provide good coverage and the coarser bits add a touch of crunch. A few other points worth mentioning: Each bottle sold supports African wildlife conservation, so every purchase does more good beyond just seasoning your food. As a vegetarian, I appreciate the fact that this product is vegan-friendly. Overall, I love this African Dreams chili salt and the spicy kick it adds to food. An easy 5 stars for me!
