I'm comparing this to another set I have from a "branded" name. That other one was more expensive, but had a few things that I think justify the higher price. Just to focus on this item, I do think that the quality and presentability of the opener is just fine, once it's put into service. As a gift, you're giving a no-name brand, so the cheapness of it shows through in that regard. But in usage practice, it's not really distinguishable from a fancy branded bottle opener. This makes opening a bottle of wine actually fun, and it's a conversation piece people will ask you about and want for themselves when they see you so easily pop a cork out. I can't speak yet to battery life and how many bottles it'll open between charges, only that I was able to charge it and successfully and easily open a bottle, and with the press of the second button remove the cork from the screw for disposal. No mess, no effort, just nice. So how is the other slightly pricier set I have better than this one? My other one came with a tray to hold all of the paraphernalia that comes with these, which is a nice organizer and the tray doubles as a charging stand. And that set included a vacuum stopper that you could actually pump the air out with using a mini pump that it also included, along with ring for the neck of the bottle to catch the inevitable drop (inevitable only if you don't use the aerator). What's better about this set vs. my older one? Well, no tray = less of a storage footprint if space is at a premium. Whether you go with a bigger set or this really nice and compact one, you won't go wrong. Unless you are never going to open a bottle of wine, no home should be without one of these because it just makes the old Rabbit manual openers that in their heyday seemed revolutionarily easy seem passe and a hassle. This thing just makes life easier, and makes you look cool as its owner or gift giver too. I'm very happy to add this to my collection.
