Westcott iPoint Aura Battery Pencil Sharpener with Titanium Helical Blade, Assorted Colors

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm an artistic person so I spend a lot of my time drawing, coloring, and writing in my journal. Naturally, that means I use pencils and colored pencils a LOT. This sharpener has been a game changer for me. I use it on an almost daily basis, multiple times throughout the day and it still gives my pencils a perfectly sharp point. The blades have not dulled in the least bit, which I find impressive given how much I've used it. The fact that it's battery operated makes it perfect to take with me wherever I go. If I want to sit outside and draw, I can do that without having to use a tiny metal manual sharpener that I tend to always lose and have to spend X amount of time searching for. I was a bit worried that I would be having to change the batteries in it frequently, but I have not yet had to change them. Another handy feature is how I have multiple options for how to empty it. The clear casing around the sharpener has a flip top that you can open and empty the shavings out through, or you can twist the casing off completely and empty it that way. That's also how I can access the blades in case a piece of led breaks off and gets stuck in them, which I have not had happen so far. The blades are also replaceable so whenever I start to notice that the sharpener isn't performing as well, all I need to do is unscrew two screws, remove the old blades, put the new blades on, and put the screws back in. So it's easy to maintain as well. Another useful and smart feature, especially if you have young children, is that unless the clear casing is screwed on properly, the sharpener won't turn on. So if I were to take the clear casing off to empty out the pencil shavings, and left the base sitting at the table where my child is (which I would not intentionally do. Just speaking hypothetically) and they would try to stick a pencil into the blades, it would not turn on. Obviously, there's still a safety risk so don't just let a young child mess with the sharpener freely and not think twice about it. It's important to still be observant and cautious when it comes to any child(s) safety. It's still a nice feature to include because, as we all know, accidents can and do happen in the blink of an eye. Overall, I'm pleased with the quality, functionality and portability of this sharpener. I would absolutely recommend it.

Sharpens pencils very well and is able to sharpen colored pencils and even those stubborn plastic coated pencils that kids love but teachers hate.
