This lantern was bought for my grandchildren to use in their clubhouse, where there is no electric for plug in lights. It is lightweight and easy for little hands to grip and hold, either around the center or the handle. We are thinking of hanging it on a hook on the ceiling with handle so the kids don't have to hold, but we can take it down if they want to use it for walking back to the house. It appears to be sturdy enough to withstand drops, if that should happen. Another great feature is the battery is solar charging (covered with plastic when received, very nice because it was protected) or by electric with the usb power chord included (the usb charging port has a cover for when not in use). I don't know how long the battery life is, as we haven't used it a long length of time yet. It works like a flashlight (bright) or a lantern. (can be bright or dim). It also has a red flashing light setting. The settings are controlled easily by a button on top along side where the flashlight bulb is. With all these different settings, when the grandkids aren't visiting, we will get a lot of use of it too walking our dog at night, looking for things in the basement, power outages, or even in the car, in case of emergency can turn on the red flashing light to be seen. In my pictures, I showed all the features I mentioned above. Great find, great price, a LOT of uses!
