I have a desktop and tablet, my husband has a laptop, and we all have smartphones (and even a Portal)... with the COVID-19 pandemic, my daughter needed something reliable for online classes. I did not want her messing with my desktop since I do not trust her to actually do her work instead of streaming YouTube videos all day; and her dad didn't want her messing with his laptop. Now, I actually have a 2016 Galaxy tablet, and I love Samsung (all of my smartphones are Galaxy phones), so it's a trusted brand that I like. She can actually do a lot on the outdated tablet that I have, but not everything. I was debating whether to buy a newer tablet, a chromebook, or an inexpensive laptop. I decided against the tablet because unfortunately with Android tablets and phones, you do not get universal updates (they actually stop updating the tablet I have, and it's only running on Android 8). I decided to go with the chromebook - which is less expensive than a tablet and a laptop, but does almost everything that a laptop can do, with the security of a tablet. You need some sort of security software for a laptop because Windows are prone to security risks (even with desktops), but you have minimal risks with a tablet, smartphone, or chromebook. However, it does almost everything a laptop can do, but has updates like a smartphone/tablet, and usually at a lower price. Be aware of what you're buying though. Don't buy this thinking you'll be able to stream hours of Netflix or be a gamer, or edit videos on this thing... it's ideal for grade school students, but once in college, you're better off with a laptop instead; and if you're wanting something for professional use, you should get a desktop. Looks just like the stock pictures, everything as described in the product description.
