Our clay soil is so hard that it takes a pick-axe to break it up. The high-wheel plow I tried first failed miserably. The 12 inch blade, 3Hp roto-tiller we tried next just bounced along the surface. A pick-axe is slow going. This works. It works well, quickly, and efficiently. Would highly recommend to anyone with hard clay soil.

I absolutely love this tool! It has been able to go very easily through my clay soil. Can go through both dry soil and wet soil easily. It doesn't even seem to be much bothered by rocks. I do not have a Rototiller, so this is an excellent option. I am also very out of shape so I was incredibly happy at how easily this tool can be used. It is a little heavy, but I would expect it to be. I have no complaints so far and I've already put in several flower beds in my backyard!

Best garden tool for big results!
I bought this broad fork for my husband who has a very large 100' x50' vegetable garden. Every Fall he covers the whole thing with a thick layer of compost, leaves, and grass clippings after harvesting so by the Springtime it's all ready to plant without having to till. In the past he's used a shovel in the Spring before planting just to loosen the soil and aerate it, so you can just imagine how long that took. But now with this broad fork that job has been lessened tremendously. It's made so very well, is really strong and will stand up to years of proper use. The sharp tines make quick work of loosening and aerating the garden soil. The best situation to obtain that rich black soil every gardener loves. And it's super easy to use. He just loves it. He wonders now why he hasn't had one until this year.
