This trash can has a manuel open lid. if your in a place that has a lot of people . This is the way to go . My other trash can with the foot pedal did not hold up . Not because of quality, just lack of care from " some people ." but these can were at a very fair price . do tell Walmart the just might raise the price. lol . But these are good quality trash cans . and should last longer the the ones i had before .

I wanted a trash can for my mother's bathroom with a lid to contain odor. I bought an expensive can with a foot pedal and a self-closing lid that proved to be very hard to replace the liners in. When I saw this one, I knew it was perfect! I wish I had bought it first, rather than the fancy chrome one that cost more than twice as much!
