Salsa El Gallo Red Jalapeño Homestyle Salsa, 11 fl oz, Mild, Roasted Jalapeño, Shelf-stable

I just recently discovered this stuff and it quickly became my new favorite salsa. It's hard to portray heat because everyone is different, but as a born-and-raised New Mexican who grew up on spicy foods, this salsa definitely leaves a burn. The bag is a little odd, I've never had salsa in this type of container, but it actually ends up being pretty convenient for saving space in the fridge. I've also tried the habanero and green chili flavors. I didn't like the habanero one much, it was a bit too bold tasting for me, but the green is very good. It's a tie between the red and green for me in terms of flavor. Both are similar in heat. I'm not amazing at describing taste, but I would say that it is very focused on the chili. Some salsas have a lot of tomato or vinegar that steals the show, but this salsa is very balanced and works well to compliment the food you put it on, rather than try to overpower it while still maintaining it's own personality. It can absolutely stand on it's own with some plain tortilla chips for example. In fact, that is mostly how I eat it. It is a bit runnier and not chunky like some popular salsas, so get some dipping cups if you plan to use it that way. Good with chips, tacos, eggs, I even pour some on a sandwich sometimes.
