I clean my cats' litter box at least once per day. I find that, in addition to making sure my cats have a clean place to go %26 removing any temptation to do their business elsewhere, it seems to make litter go further. It also prevents any litter box odors and allows me to maintain a vigil on their health status. I have been willing to pay a bit more for the Tidy Cat brand brand because of the lack of dust it creates, the odors eliminated and the clumping power. I had been using the 20 lb plastic jugs but lugging these to the recycling center is a pain. (I figured out that if I ran a section of clothesline rope through the handles of all of the jugs and tied the ends, it was much easier to carry all of the jugs up the steps to deposit them into the railroad car sized recycling container by just untying the rope and letting the jugs slide off. Now that I've found these 34 lb bags available for refilling the large pails, my great quantity of recycling plastic jugs has been eliminated!! I simply saved one 20 lb Tidy Cat jug, cut the bottom off of a dry gallon jug of vinegar to use as a funnel and I use an empty, hard, plastic cat treat container as a scoop and refill the jug to the level at which I can easily lift it. The jugs %26 the refill bags fit in my cats' litter box area better than the larger pails bags.
