I believe this product is for children over the weight of 30 lb I would suggest maybe if your child is over 35 Plus I put it on my child and when he got in the water it automatically made him go to his back but the water still kind of splashed on his face because he was a little too small and it made him scared. I feel like it does his job as far as keeping the child afloat but it didn't keep him upright
