this machine is pretty quiet. Only thing I wish was better. What's the capacity of the bin as I frequently have to empty it out after shredding things like mail and docs. Overall, hadn't had any issues with shredding things like I these credit cards, though. I have not tried to shred a metal credit card yet.

Powerful and quiet

This is a great shredder. When not in use there is no sound just the power light to let you know it is plugged in. When shredding it is loud but not too loud. It self feeds the paper then is quiet right after. It has a tinted window in the front to see how full it is getting and because it is tinted it blends in with the bin. There is a light to let you know it is plugged in, a light to let you know it is getting hot, a switch with reverse, off and auto on, and another switch to lock or unlock it.
