1. Make sure your dog is calm. Removing mats can be an extremely uncomfortable process for your dog. 2. Spray the coat with detangler. (This is not always necessary) 3. Brush your dog with a regular brush. 4. Hold the mat at the base. 5. Untangle the mat with your fingers. 6. Rub cornstarch into the mat. 7. Pick the mat. 8. Comb through it with a dematting comb
