I like the spirit cooker and it is a good value at the price point. Although the handles on the pot and glass lid remind of the cheapest plastic, the metal parts exceeded expectations. It was incredibly easy to use, though it tried to blow itself out several times while lighting it. I had 91% rubbing alcohol, which stinks a bit until burning well. Oh yeah, there is textile type packing in the font, which effectively prevents spills. I just poured alcohol until it seemed saturated. I only needed water to simmer, so don't know how long to boil, but it would heat water or food quickly. I did get soot, as expected, from 91% alcohol, but I wanted to use fuel on hand, not buy yet another fuel type. The 'spirit cooker' serves its purpose nicely, but I am a kerosene man. Kerosene burns so cleanly, and pleasant smelling with zero soot. The spirit cooker will be reserved for an emergency, and I intend to get the Alpaca kerosene cooker for serious cooking. I would love to see a mini kerosene cooker, but this little guy takes little space, and could be used for a real meal with rubbing alcohol already on hand. It may be exactly what you need if a tiny Sterno type cooker is too small. In spite of a glass lid, it struck me as reasonably durable at the price point, and will be stashed for a possible emergency.
