To turn off the talking function, make sure the scale is on and the front screen is activated. Then press and hold the kg/lb button on the back for 3-4 seconds until the screen on the front says “OFF”. To turn the talking function back on, press the kg/lb button again for another 3-4 seconds until the front screen says “ON”.

Operation:
Install Batteries - Batteries included (2 AAA)
• Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scale
• Remove the outer wrapping on the batteries
• Place the batteries as instructed - negative side to spring, positive to metal contact
• Close the battery compartment
Converting Weight Units
• Locate black button on the underside of the scale, between the anti-skid paddings
• Push button to convert units between kg and lb
Weight Measurement
1. For best results, place the scale on a hard, flat surface. Avoid carpet or soft surfaces.
2. Gently tap the top of the scale to activate.
3. Once "0.0" appears, gently step on the scale.
4. Stand evenly on the scale, without moving or shifting your feet or body. The scale will then display and flash your final results. Results will remain on the screen for 8-10 seconds.

Tips:
For consistent measurements, always weigh yourself on the same scale placed on the same floor surface. Try to weigh yourself at the same time every day. Your scale rounds up or down to the nearest 0.1 lb/0.5 kg. If you weigh yourself twice and get two different readings, your weight lies between the two readings.
Battery Change Indicator:
When the battieries need replacing, the following will appear on the screen: L0
To change batteries:
Open the battery compartment. Take batteries out of the battery compartment with care. Do not bend the contacts back. Dispose of the batteries with an electronics recycler. Do not place batteries in a fire.

Please remove the insulation sheet from the battery before using. Replace the batterie when the "low battery" indicator shows.
Error Messages:
"L0" - Low battery. Replace the batteries.
"0L" - Overload indicator - over 390 lbs/176 kgs. Remove item from the scale.
Scale doesn't turn on when tapped:
1. Batteries may be incorrectly installed. Reinstall batteries in the correct polarity.
2. Batteries may need to be replaced. Replace batteries.
3. Item being weighed is too light. Use a smaller scale to weigh the object.
4. Light doesn't come on when stepping on scale. Scale may be broken, contact customer support.

To weigh safely and accurately, please stand on the center of the platform without moving until a result is calculated.
DO NOT strike or drop the scale.
DO NOT stand on the edge of the scale or jump on it.
DO NOT stand on the scale platform for a prolonged period of time or when not in weighing operation.
Always place the scale on a hard, dry, and flat surface before measurement.
Handle the scale with care, as it is a precision instrument.
Clean the scale with a damp cloth, and avoid getting any water or other liquid inside the scale.
DO NOT use chemical or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the scale.
Keep the scale in a cool environment with dry air.
Always keep the scale in a horizontal position; do not store vertically.
If the scale fails to turn on, check whether the batteries are installed correctly. Replace the batteries if necessary. If an error appears on the display or if the scale does not turn off automatically, remove the batteries for 3 seconds and then reinstall them.

I thought my old scale might not be accurate. Plus I was having trouble seeing it. I thought the talking scale would be very helpful. It turns out that it weighs the same as my other scale. But I like the new one because it does talk. The electronic woman's voice isn't real clear but the weight stays on the scale when you step off. My scale has to sit underneath the toilet paper holder so it shows the white dust easily.
