My husband built the PIT in 2003, using his backyard welding rig. The thermostat was destroyed in the flood of 2016. After a lengthy illness he passed in February 2021. As a tribute to him I revived the PIT. I needed the best thermostat made because I didn't know l the heat needed for the outcome I wanted. I found the 3-inch smoker guage and the outcome was perfect.
